Old Baker Farm round one - October 21st

Every year we go to the Old Baker Farm Pumpkin Patch before Halloween. We always have so much fun. This year, we went twice! The first trip was with GiGi . Since I knew we were going to be going twice, I thought it would be funny to dress Lane up as a scarecrow again and take his picture in the pumpkin patch.

We were greeted at the front entrance by this scarecrow.

Corn Maze!!

We attempted to recreate one of our favorite pictures of Lane sitting in the cotton. This was as close as we got to everyone looking at the camera...
The cutest scarecrow in the pumpkin patch!
Near the barn were several toy tractors. These were the HEAVY metal toy tractors like they had when I was a kid -no plastic! Lane was not big enough to reach the petals, but he still LOVED playing with them! He sat on them for awhile...

until he realized he could stand behind the tractor and push!
So Neat!!!
Since Lane enjoyed the tractors at the farm so much, Papa Rock got Uncle Jonathan's old tractor down from the attic. Lane has pushed that tractor several miles around their cul-de-sac! ;)

Boo at the Zoo

This year we decided to take Lane to Boo at the Zoo. It was suppose to be kid-friendly, but I can't lie - I was a little nervous. Only because Lane had never been to anything like this before, so I was not sure how he would handle it...He LOVED it! We learned that he is not afraid of anything!!

As we were waiting in line to go in, Lane started grabbing the bats and spiders that were hanging from the ceiling.
At the first little thing, there was a huge blow-up creature. None of us noticed it, but since Lane was on Papa Rock's shoulders he was at eye level with the creature. We only noticed it after Lane drew his sword to take down the scary creature. Such a little hero, protecting the family from crazy monsters!!! I still can't believe he never made a sound...
He thought this skeleton was pretty cool. He had to touch it several times!
The carousel went BACKWARDS!! This made him nervous at the beginning, but he quickly warmed up!

Hayride!

silly little pirate!

Mom and I took Lane to the zoo one day while all the props were still up. Lane thought the cut-out faces were funny!

Scarecrow Day at Aldridge Gardens

One day, Lane is going to look back at these pictures and be so MAD that I dressed him up like this. However, one of the local gardens had a scarecrow competition and of course I had to dress Lane up as a scarecrow and take his picture. Cheap entertainment!! :D

He was amazed by the scarecrow family.

I have a secret....

Chris and I found out in October that we were going to have another baby! We were so excited and really wanted to find a cute way to tell our parents. I found this t-shirt online and knew it was perfect! What better way than to let Lane tell!!

blog failure...

So, I've completely failed at keeping the blog updated! My new goal is to just be caught up before Bethany arrives in a few weeks. So, in order to do that I am going to mostly just upload pictures and as I find time come in and write captions and little memories. Hopefully, that will work better.... So here are pictures from AUGUST 2009 (yikes!). These are from a zoo trip, Alabama Adventure and some other random moments around the house. Enjoy!

Poor baby did NOT want to get off!

The water fountain thing was amazing!

Come back, water!!

Riding the slides at Alabama Adventure!

Climbing the fridge...
I guess I didn't get his snack ready fast enough! :)

Aldridge Gardens - August 20th

Lane, Gigi, Papa Rock and I decided to go out to Aldridge gardens one day for lunch. We had a picnic then fed the ducks and turtles. I knew Lane would love that part, but I did not realize how much he would enjoy everything else - especially the statues! As we walked past the first statue, Lane began to scream and point. So, I let him out of the stroller and he ran over to the turtle and bunny! He was amazed! He had never seen anything like those statues before.

Hi turtle!

It's a bunny rabbit!
It's not everyday you get to ride a bunny!
It looks like he is crying, but he was really squealing with excitement!

Checking out the little waterfall.
Piggy-back ride through the lake trail.

McWane Center - Aug 14th

Once the "summer" was over and I was no longer watching sweet Jackson and Carson, Lane and I decided to do EVERYTHING in Birmingham. For over a week we left the house everyday. Our first day by ourselves we went to the McWane Center with Gigi and Papa Rock. The McWane center is an awesome hands-on museum and was much bigger than I realized! The main floor was mostly for bigger kids, but there was one area for his age. Some of his favorite parts of this area was the submarine, sandbox, water table, and an area he could climb up tunnels to different landings (kind-of like a big McDonald's playground).

Driving the submarine.

The McWane Center had two water tables. Lane preferred the much smaller table. Here are two pictures of him splashing! He started out fairly calm...

Then he went nuts! This particular table had a piece of glass separating the two sides. I had to move to the opposite side to take some pictures...He had a blast!

The top floor was perfect for Lane's age. This floor was the "Itty Bitty Magic City." It had huge foam blocks, a dress up areas, putt-putt golf, a coal mine, a grocery store, and all sorts of trucks and cars to climb. It was awesome! You can see foam blocks in the picture. Lane loved crawling through the tunnels and over the cubes!

Driving is serious business.

Playing with Gigi in the delivery truck.

The bottom floor has a tiny but fantastic aquarium. Lane loved seeing all the fish and the huge eel! Seriously, look at that eel! It was a beast!
